Ski Trip 2023

Ski Trip 2023

Our party of 51 children and 7 staff left Ballymoney High on 14th January to head for Dublin airport and our onward transfers to Pinzolo in the Italian dolomites.  After a long day of travelling we arrived into our hotel for dinner and straight to bed.

Day 1 on the slopes was a big learning curve with lots of new skills and techniques introduced.  Over the next few days we developed our skills and progressed up the mountains to ski the blue slopes.  By the end of the week, we had groups all over the resort skiing blues and reds, and even heading off-piste through the trees and learning to jump.

We had a packed programme of evening activities which included table quizzes, just dance and ice skating.  By the end of each evening, everyone was exhausted and glad to get to bed.  Those early morning knocks at the door for breakfast always came too quickly!

All too soon, it was time to pack our bags and head for home.  With an evening flight out of Verona, it allowed us time to do a whistle stop tour of Verona.  Our first stop was to McDonald’s for burgers and chips, before heading on a quick tour of the Verona Arena, an original Roman Amphitheatre.  A few of our party visited the balcony of Romeo and Juliet before we all headed shopping.  Money all spent, we headed for Verona Airport and our return journey to Ballymoney, arriving back into school around 11.30pm, with lots of hugs all round as parents and children reunited!

A fantastic trip with a wonderful group of young people.  Here’s to the next one! The planning has started already!
